As a trained and registered tour guide I have been making my guests fall in love with Budapest for over three decades now. Since I'm not only a tour guide but also a local patriot, I know exactly that during city tours one should / must tell far more than just numbers and facts; stories and legends are important too – and besides, I like to let out some secrets :) I design most of my tours on foot (partly by public transport), as this is the best way to see Budapest flexibly – you get stuck in traffic jams when using coaches anyway and an increasing number of districts are closed off to bus traffic. Jewish Budapest – History and Present

The tour tells both about the eventful history of Budapest's Jews and their present life and customs. The walk leads through Pest’s Jewish quarter where we get to know three synagogues among other things, a ritual bath (mikveh) as well as various Jewish institutions and monuments. Guests also receive important supplementary material for this guided tour on a digital device such as films showing interiors of the synagogues, klezmer music played by Hungarian musicians and an illustrated dictionary with Yiddish words or even some typical jewish recipes. What could be more beautiful than a city tour of Budapest? A city tour of Budapest at night! When the sun sets and the grand buildings light up festively, you see the Danube metropolis with different eyes. And there’s another big advantage: In the evening, significantly fewer people are out and about, making it much easier to avoid crowds at popular spots around town. The walk takes us along the Danube River and shows off illuminated sights on both sides—Buda and Pest alike: The century-old Central Market Hall building and the Gellért Baths; the newly restored Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd); the Statue of Liberty that towers over the cityscape; the elegant Elizabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd), Music Palace of the Pest National Assembly Ballrooms; fully lit Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) and magnificent Gresham Palace. This is a tour where we really look at what you want to see – there are no must-see sights, fixed routes or other constraints. The city walk will be tailored individually; I am only here for you (and your friends/family), and you don’t have to coordinate plans with others or adhere to someone else’s wishes. Of course, before the guided tour, we always discuss which attractions and places would interest you and make concrete suggestions about what could be possible within the given time during the tour. You can of course deviate from this tentative plan on site since nothing is set in stone when it comes to private tours—only that they provide a wonderful experience. During the tour, we travel by foot exclusively, trying our best to avoid larger crowds. Should you wish, we may also use public transportation to cover greater distances. When booking the tour, all you need to specify is its desired length (duration): The minimum duration is two hours but we recommend rather opting for a three-quarter hour long tour because one needs even just these few hours to explore leisurely through one of Budapest’s districts. Buda and Pest – Old Town and City Centre of Budapest

On this tour we walk from St. Stephen’s Basilica through downtown Pest to the Parliament building: here you can see many important but also lesser known buildings from the turn of the century, and a lot about today's life in Budapest / Hungary will be revealed too. Afterwards we go by public transport (underground train + bus – tickets are not included in the price) up to Castle Hill on Buda side where we explore the historic old town district starting at beautiful Matthias Church all the way down to Royal Palace including Fisherman Bastion, Cafe Ruszwurm, Cave Labyrinth, Parade Square and former government quarter along our route. The historic old town – Castle Hill of Buda

On this guided walk we stroll through Castle Hill and discover both its world famous highlights (St Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, Cafe Ruszwurm) and also explore lesser known sights on the northern side of the district (Church of Mary Magdalene etc.). The tour itself suits everyone well enough there are plenty interesting things even for younger generations; since no particularly long or difficult routes have been taken out they can be easily mastered by those who donít like too much walking especially good though as introductory tour on your first day because here one also collects many useful hints for subsequent days!
