ADVENTURE AT WILD NATURE

LAZAREV CANYON IS AN EXOTIC WILDERNESS A jungle amidst rock formations Much like the untamed wilderness of Venezuela or the Amazon Basin Lazarev Canyon is situated approximately four kilometres away from the settlement of Žlot (around twelve kilometres from Bor and eighty-five kilometres from Majdanpek). This area boasts Eastern Serbia’s most profound and extensive arid gorge. During late winter/early spring months—typically March, April, or May—due to thawing snowfall, an icy cold stream may flow throughout Lazarev Gorge; at such times traversing becomes exceedingly challenging yet remains feasible. Due to steep cliff faces rendering access perilous, this site still awaits full exploration today. Known widely within local circles lies a network of countless caverns and chasms hidden amongst these rugged walls. Stretching roughly nine kilometres with sheer drop offs ranging between thirty to four hundred metres deep, the formation itself came into being thanks to water erosion caused by once flowing streams now lost beneath ground level – namely those named Mikulj, Veliki i Mali Mizlok, along with Vuj. These gorges feature near perpendicular sides carved directly out of massive karst stone found here on southern parts of Mount Kukavica. In places narrower than seven metres across, one could easily mistake them for natural tunnels rather than canyons themselves! Nearby rises Mountain Malinić standing tall at just over ten hundred eightynine feet above sea level providing hikers passing close enough opportunity catch glimpses towards distant peaks beyond...
