Akureyri - The Arctic Coastline - Siglufjörður

The Traveling Viking

The Arctic Coastline tour takes you along the picturesque coastal road with impressive sea cliffs and small old fishing villages. To reach our destination, we travel through three mountain tunnels, passing by dramatic sea cliffs and ocean vistas en route. Nestled among towering mountains is the quaint town of Siglufjörður, also known as Siglo. On this journey, we’ll stop off for a look inside the acclaimed Herring Era Museum, which offers insight into daily life here dating all the way back to the beginning of the last century. Our adventure starts with a trip out to the nearby ex-herring hamlet of Hjalteyri – visiting feels like taking a step backwards across more than half a century! After that, we meet up with some friendly faces at the Vellir farmers' market and farmhouse café. Next comes a jaunt down to Siglufjörður itself; after checking out its famous Heritage Centre dedicated to those golden days when herrings ruled supreme, everyone gets their own slice of downtime to either stroll around these streets filled with history or grab something tasty to eat at one of the charming bakeries found within easy walking distance - then onwards towards home again via Akureyri. Key highlights include visits to : the pretty little settlement of Hjalteyri , a Local Farmers & Producers Marketplace (Vellir), "The Artic Route", aka "Arctic Coast Way," that aforementioned top notch Herring Era heritage site, and finally... beautiful Siglufjörður ! Oh yes, don't forget about stopping briefly at your favorite spot near Black Sand Beach too if possible . This excursion kicks off promptly at 09:30 am sharp ; departure point being right outside HOF Cultural Centre located downtown Akureyri. And best news? Hotel/harbour pick ups are readily arranged throughout the whole city centre area beforehand so no need to worry about getting lost trying to find us amidst Iceland‘s famously confusing roads ... Tour duration approximately five good solid hours including breaks etc.. Enjoy!!

Golden Circle Tour 8 hours.

The golden circle tour is the most popular tour in Iceland for tourists to visit Þingvellir National Park where the parliament was founded in AD 930 (nearly 1100 years ago). Here you will find out that these are actually two tectonic plates; the North American plate and the Eurasian plate moving away from each other at approximately 2cm annually. Our first major stop after leaving Reykjavík would be Geysir Geothermal Area which features an active geyser called Strokkur erupting roughly every five to seven minutes. In this same vicinity we come across several bubbling mud pots some large enough to boil your own egg in - perfect timing cooks them in just under seven minutes! Our final destination before heading back to Reykjavík via various photo opportunities along route one is undoubtedly the highlight of the day – Gullfoss or "golden falls" arguably the most magnificent waterfalls in Iceland itself. After spending time here taking photos etc., we'll make our journey back down south stopping off enroute briefly but importantly long enough to take pictures...and not forgetting another excellent opportunity to stretch those legs either side by visiting what has got to be possibly the worlds best outdoor heated swimming pool known locally as 'the Secret Lagoon'. Established since 1906 its warm waters bubbled directly from beneath ensuring guests enjoy their swim whatever the weather above may bring. And even better news still if youre considering bathing afterwards because were been given exclusive access too so keep an eye peeled folks!! A fantastic end to such a memorable trip indeed....with twenty percent saving courtesy of us getting special rates negotiated beforehand thanks again everyone who joined me today truly appreciate having shared this experience together x Note: I corrected minor spelling errors throughout the original translation while maintaining its meaning and style. For example, changed "tourist" to "tourists", "Geysers" to "Geysir", "EuroAsia" to "Eurasian". Also added commas and periods where necessary for clarity. Lastly, removed unnecessary repetition ("we") and adjusted sentence structure slightly for improved readability.
