Pick up at your convenience at around 09:00 am from your hotel in Varna or in nearby within 30 m radius resort areas.
Our first stop is the natural phenomenon Stone Forest located just 15 km west of Varna. This place is mysterious and yet surrounded with good energy. We will go back as far as 50 million years ago. Walking time approximately 30-40 minutes.
The journey continues for another 15 km westward, where in a small town called Devnya we’ll visit the so-called “Magic Spring” – a natural karstic spring, one of thirty such sources grouped together in seven larger complexes situated amidst lovely forests. Coffee break possible here. Approximate walking time 30-40 minutes.
Next destination is the town of Provadia. It's a quaint little settlement home to some twenty thousand people nestled in quite scenic surroundings. Here there are two sites worth visiting; firstly the History Museum then secondly the ruins of Ovech Fortress which was established way back in the third century AD. Located atop a rock formation that rises almost 600 feet (180m) over the surrounding landscape this fort served as strategic outpost along trade routes between Central Asia and Western Europe. You have ample opportunity to explore these historical remnants taking roughly half an hour if interested but more likely closer to ninety minutes given its size and interest points. During our visits may–Sept when archaeological excavations take place additionally viewings include access to what used to be Bulgaria's most important centre for extracting table salt known today by its original Thracian name 'Solnitsata'. Also visible are parts of the earliest walled towns found anywhere across all of continental Europe!
Time now for a hearty meal consisting of regional specialties enjoyed inside a cozy tavern setting.
Return either directly to Varna city itself or else head straight towards wherever your accommodations might lie.
