Chavín Archaeological Complex of Pre-Incas
Itinerary
Breakfast at hotel; departure at 8 am from First Class Huaraz office, headed towards the millennial archaeological capital of Chavín de Huántar, passing through typical Recuay villages, Ticapampa, Catac, visiting Lake Querococha at 3,980 meters above sea level, photo stop of the beautiful landscapes, continuing to the highest pass of Túnel de Cahuish at 4,500 masl, an important point for hydrological division where the western waters flow to the Pacific Ocean and eastern waters to the Atlantic Ocean, continuing along the banks of the Mosna River arriving at the Chavín Archaeological Site, the ruins are located next to the modern district of Chavín, at 1 pm followed immediately by a guided visit to the Chavín Castle, lasting approximately two hours, within the ruins you will visit numerous labyrinthine rooms and in one of the main buildings is the Lanzón de Chavín, a large stone carving remnant of the pre-Inca god, many places and things to see and observe, such as plazas, cavezas clavas (stone heads), main porch, and more, concluding in the modern museum that houses the remnants of the Chavín culture, afterwards we proceed to a smaller museum for a self-guided visit lasting about one hour, afterward finishing with a guided tour around, heading to a restaurant for lunch and returning to Huaraz around 4 pm, then departing for a nonstop drive back to Huaraz for approximately three hours via the same route, arriving around 7 pm directly to our bus station in Huaraz.
